A group of lawyers of the B + B Law Firm made a visit to Barcelona's Roca Junyent Law Firm this year after visiting the Nunziante Magrone Law Firm in Rome for the past year as part of a traditional winter trip.
Turkey became a party of Nice Agreement Concerning the International Classification of Goods and Services for the Purposes of the Registration of Marks in 1995. The list of goods and services are arranged by the provisions of Nice Agreement. Nice Agreement is continuously revised by the member countries and is published every five years. The latest edition (10th edition) of the list of classification of goods and services’ entered into force on 01.01.2012 and was published in the Official Gazette on 28.01.2012.

Giorgio Martellioino, legal affairs manager of Cementir Holding which has huge investments in Turkey; Dr. Alessandro Franchini, counsel of SIMEST and Att. Benan Ilhanli who is responsible for the Italian clients of our firm has been followed with interest by the attendants. It has been emphasized in the meeting, where the legal advisors of more than thirty companies’ which are already invested or planning to make an investment in Turkey attended; the economical growth of Turkey and legal convenience for Italian companies’ investment decisions within the scope of the EU harmonization.
As per the amendment to the Law (Law concerning Foreigners Residence and Travel ) numbered 5683, total staying period in Turkey for foreigners who have a short-dated touristic visa or have been staying in Turkey by using the visa exemption, would be maximum 90 days in 180 days. The amendment entered into force on February 1 and the relevant foreigners who intend to stay in Turkey for a longer period, should get a suitable visa and/or recidence permit from the relevant authority.
Upon the invitation of the Istanbul Bar Association Att. Gökhan Uğur Bağcı, Managing Partner of B+B Law Firm, gave a speech on Consumer Rights within the scope of E-Commercial Law at the E-Commercial Law panel dated 30 March 2012. Mr. Bağcı shared his experiences on the relevant subject with the attendants and discussed in detail the most frequently encountered consumer problems.
The workshop on Prevention of Corruption which was held in more than ten countries by International Bar Association (IBA) so far, took place in Istanbul University with the attendance of the international lawyers which has expertise on the relevant subject, on 28 March 2012 with the support of B+B Law Firm.
The Contemporary Art and Law Panel was held on 30 March 2012 at the Proje4L/Elgiz Çağdaş Sanat Museum, which is identified as one of the contemporary art places in Turkey, with the contributions of the museum management and by the moderators of the managing partner Att. Sidika Baysal Hatioğlu and partner Att. Mehmet Ali Bakanay, and with the attendance of the experts of this subject English lawyer Mr. Clive Thorne and Italian lawyer Mr. Oscar Podda. Within the panel which took place with the attendance of more than eighty art-lovers and collectors, Att. Clive Thorne who has performed the establishing studies of the Istanbul Modern explained the protection of the intellectual property in England and Europe in general, and Att. Oscar Podda who has perfomed the transfer of the famous Panza Collection to Guggenheim Museum, informed the attandants on the legal assessment of abstract modern art. Within the questions and answers part of the panel, Att. Mehmet Ali Bakanay answered questions concerning Turkish law.
